I’VE GOT NO STYLE

The most frequent question asked to bloggers during interviews is certainly: “how can you describe your personal style?”. The answer must be something like “girly”, “retro”, “boho”, “grunge” or whatever – cause everyone is expected to have a define style. But how to define yourself if you’re not the “defined” type of person. Can you be a “Fashion Blogger” without “style”?

Today I can attend an event in a conservative pastel-coloured dress and high-heels, and tomorrow going to a cocktail in a crop top, leather pants and sneakers. Usually I adapt my outfit to my mood, but also to the weather or even to the idea I have of what people expect me to wear that day, which is kind of abstract and hard to explain. “Style” for me is pure restriction to creativity, and for those who still wonder, fashion and blogging are all about creativity as well – if my style is defined as “sporty”, can’t I wear a red beret? or if it is “chic” shan’t I prefer clear cuts to bohemian wide pants?

The fact is, some people love choosing the style that fits them and stick to it, but others prefer being free of it and experimenting a bit of each mood without having to choose a label. The look from this article for example is one I took a while to assemble; firstly because I had to wait a few weeks before being able to afford these Givenchy booties (a gift from myself to myself, for birthday), and secondly because I hesitated a bit about adding the fake nose-piercing to the lot – it is definitely not something I was used to wear, but the perspective of the punkish touch brought by this Carmen Cita Jones piercing to my no-style style was too tempting for me to decline.
