CURRENT BEAUTY TREATS

V13A2605

Long time no beauty reviews – yes, this is indeed my first review article of 2017, the last one having been about those shiny makeup products right before NYE. To be totally honest it is guilt that brought me to write this new post, because in five weeks I discovered real beauty gems and was feeling awful about keeping them “secret” – so here we go, let’s start with the basics shall we?

01

EFFACLAR DUO(+) UNIFIANT BY LA ROCHE-POSAY

In between of a skin care product and a beauty BB cream, the new Effaclar Duo(+) by La Roche-Posay has that huge advantage of not only treating spots and minimize redness, but also unify the skin tone with it’s lovely sheer coverage. Damn, the brand always surprises me in a good way. Following on the success of the original Effaclar Duo in 2009, La Roche-Posay launched the reformulated Effaclar Duo (+) in 2014 – and let’s just say it flew off the shelves, with one being sold around the world every 5 seconds. Why? For a very simple reason : it really works! Charles is still using it every morning, I swear. And now, La Roche-Posay is bringing us that new skincare babe to fall for. I immediately liked the light texture and smooth blending, and despite its light coverage claim I am really pleased with the coverage it offers (and I actually wear it alone everyday, just like a foundation). But, for those who may like something a bit more heavy-duty, Duo [+] Unifiant would also make the perfect under makeup primer.

BJORN AXEN ORGANIC LINE

I seldom write about shampoos, you might have noticed, but I feel like not sharing something about Bjorn Axen’s new line would be a beauty crime. This March the Swedish brand will be launching an organic, eco-friendly line that not only looks nice but smells heavenly. The packaging is all climate-neutral, biodegradable with recycled plastics – yet it does not look cheap, each bottle having it’s own green/blue design. As for the products, they are made of 95% of natural ingredients (from organic Aloe Vera to the Nordic rapeseed oil) and are scented with natural cold pressed essential bergamot oil – a real treat if you love bergamot as much as I do.

BIOTHERM’S LIFE PLANKTON SENSITIVE EMULSION

Although I’m Russian, my skin just doesn’t get along with cold and ten days in freezing and extra-windy New York did not really help it’s sensitiveness. But fortunately for my face, right after I came back to Switzerland I laid my hands on Biotherm’s brand new baby – the Life Plankton Sensitive Emulsion – a strong hydrating care that not only soothes the skin, but also reinforces it (and God knows how we need this when temperature dramatically drops). As you can guess by it’s name, this product’s key ingredient is the Plankton, a natural micro-organism that resisted at 3 billion years of changes, managing to adapt and reinforce itself until today – once concentrated in the cream it makes the skin stronger, less reactive to environmental aggressors and healthier to look. I’m using it for a week now, and am really satisfied with the soothing results – as for the healing results it’s still a bit early for me to say, but I’m confident and will keep you guys informed!
